Published findings – Science Direct

A novel operation method for SOECs has been developed for dynamic power-to-X systems.

Samantha Phillips
November 22, 2023

The method works by rapidly cycling between fuel cell and electrolysis mode at the millisecond level. Stack temperature variation and associated thermomechanical stress is minimised. Less nickel migration and agglomeration is observed relative to reference cells.

Lower degradation is observed, likely due to higher impurity tolerance.
